Ocean floor's wonders unveiled

Despite numerous expeditions, scientists have barely scratched
the surface of the vast ocean floor.
But what they have uncovered so far could have far-reaching implications on
Earth and in space, Maya Tolstoy, a marine researcher at Lamont-Doherty Earth
Observatory of Columbia University, told a group of educators, students and
parents yesterday.
