Welcome to Earth 2 Class!

E2C was supported in part during 2004 - 2006  by National Science Foundation Geoscience Education Grant 0331232 "EARTH2CLASS: LINKING RESEARCH SCIENTISTS AND CLASSROOM TEACHERS."

To find descriptions of current series of  WORKSHOPS,  just pull down the "Workshop Schedule & Registration" tab in the "Workshops" menu. For previous series, Workshops, you can either go through the tabs provided or go to the Site Map to find particular themes.

The EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES section has been upgraded to provide easy navigation to what we hope will be many useful materials and links.

  • Our Curriculum Units and Teaching Tips sections provides one of the best resources anywhere for teaching an Earth Science course. Starting in the 2nd NYS Earth Science Teachers Conference, we have been creating lists of important vocabulary terms, concise summaries of key ideas, links to selected websites that provide classroom investigations and resources about each topic, connections with appropriate pages in the NYS Earth Science Reference Tables, pertinent NYS Standards, and much more.

  • In "For Teachers," we provide links to selected web sites, presentations associated with E2C workshops, lesson plans created by our participants and other educators, and articles from professional journals.

  • In "For Students," we provide links to resources and presentations that may be of value to Earth Science learners in grades 7 - 14.

In the EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES, Dr. Cristiana Assumpcao provides valuable suggestions for incorporating these new teaching strategies into your lessons. we also provide links to technologies developed by other programs.

E2C COURSES AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT provides a link to information about our National Science Foundation Geoscience Education Grant opportunities. Also, you can learn more about earning graduate credit through the Teachers College Center for Educational Outreach and Innovation or St. Thomas Aquinas College.

The E2C VIRTUAL COURSES section will provide resources for a distance-learning course that is under construction. At the moment, you can see the types of materials that will be utilized by those enrolled in such a program.

We provide links to selected LDEO PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS of interest to E2C participants and their students.

In "STANDARDS," you can find quick access to the National, New York, and New Jersey Science Education Standards. We also provide suggested arrangements of Core Concepts and activities for the New York State "Intermediate Level Science" and "Physical Setting: Earth Science" (Regents Earth Scence) programs.

The virtual tours links you to the work of scientists at Lamont-Doherty, and to explorations of interesting locations, such as the Hudson and Hackensack River watersheds. At the end of each series, we go out for a paddle in the Tallman Salt Marsh and Hudson River.

The EVALUATION section allows Workshop participants to provide an evaluation about the usefulness of our resources, so we can better meet our users' needs. We also provide access to reports prepared by our NSF Grant External Evaluators.

The SITE MAP section provides a useful index of previous Workshops Themes and our Educational Resources.

LINKS to our sponsors and partners can be accessed directly through that part of the menu.

If you would like to communicate with any member of the Earth2Class Team, you can find our information in the CONTACT US section.
