Workshop 7 (June 3rd 2000)
Earth View Explorer
EarthView
Explorer is an interactive, CD-ROM computer-based, learning tool developed
collaboratively by scientists at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and
Science Faculty at Teachers College Columbia University.
This sequence of two Saturday morning sessions will explore the
educational theory, scientific rationale, and curriculum applications of
EarthView Explorer. The participants are O. Roger
Anderson (Biology and Science Education), John Armbruster (Geosciences),
Kevin, Griffin, (Plant Physiology), Mike Passow (Earth Sciences Education) and
Ray Sambrotto (Biological Oceanography).
Session 2
In the second session, we will explore the use of the modules on Atmosphere
and Biosphere though presentations by Columbia University scientists and science
educators and explore, through hands-on use of the modules, how these can be
applied to teaching earth and environmental sciences in pre college education.
